Heroic advances to BLAST Premier Spring Final set for June 7-11 in Washington, D.C. after defeating BIG 2-1 in the second round of the BLAST Premier Group Stage’s knockout bracket. BIG, fresh off a 2-0 victory over Liquid with strong performances from Karim “Krimbo” Moussa and Nils “k1to” Gruhne in the first round of the knockout stage, were unable to continue their success against Heroic.
Fatih “gob b” Dayik and BIG opted for Vertigo instead of their familiar Mirage in the veto process, which turned out to be a misstep. Heroic capitalized and set the tone for the series. BIG struggled to make a strong impact on the attack, managing only two hard-fought rounds, while Florian “syrsoN” Rische made a lively start in the match after missing against Liquid. However, Heroic took control of the map on the CT side and dominated the first half, leading 13-2. Mathieu “Maniac” Quiquerez called the 16-3 victory by the Danes “a violent loss” for BIG.
Martin “stavn”, the 10th best player of 2022, led on Ancient, but his 22 kills and 1.29 rating were not enough to stop BIG from winning 16-12. The Danish young gun struggled in their first chance to qualify for the Spring Final against Vitality, but regained his form on Ancient. The series ended on Inferno, which was uneventful compared to the previous maps. BIG struggled on defense and Heroic dominated, leading 12-3 at halftime and securing a 16-10 victory.
The final match in the group stage is between OG and Astralis, with the winner advancing to the BLAST Premier Spring Final to join G2, FaZe, Natus Vincere, Vitality, and Heroic. The last two teams in the eight-team North American event will be determined through the Showdown.
